[edit] Installation of Plugins
Installation of plugins under Xoblite is usually a two-step process.
1. Download the archive file for the plugin (usually a .zip file) and extract all its files to some location on your computer.
Usually the best place to put plugins is in your xoblite plugins folder, inside a folder with a name unique to that plugin. If you've just downloaded the Liam mail plugin, for example, the best place to put it is /plugins/Liam.
Note that it doesn't really matter WHERE the files for your plugin are located, so long as you choose that location in the second step below. Placing all your plugins under Xoblite's Plugins folder is desirable, as it keeps things organized, but there's no real programmatical consequence for choosing some other folder on your hard drive for your plugins.
2. Load the plugin's DLL file into Xoblite.
There are many ways to do this under Xoblite. The most straightforward way is probably the main Xoblite menu, which you can find by right-clicking any empty space on the desktop. Navigate the menu as follows: xoblite -> Configuration -> Plugins and click the "Load plugin.." option. A File dialog will pop up asking you to choose the DLL file for the plugin you want to load; if you just installed that plugin, navigate to the folder you just extracted the plugin's files to and double-click the DLL there.
There is a somewhat quicker way to access the Plugins options under Xoblite, though, which involves the Slit. With the default Xoblite installation, the Slit is a small rectangular box at the bottom-left corner of the screen. Right-click the border of that box, and you'll find the Slit menu. Go to Plugins in that menu, the first option there, and "Load plugin.." is right there! Upon clicking this option, the File dialog will pop up, allowing you to choose the desired plugin's DLL file to load, just as above. This method is considerably faster and easier than loading plugins using the main menu.
